7th June. Alex visited Cloughjordan ecovillage in County Tipperary, Ireland on a beautiful summer's evening. He was hosted by Prof. Peadar Kirby and given a full tour of the extensive (67 acre) site before spending a couple of hours in the WeCreate centre sharing experiences of sustainable living with village residents. The ecovillage has a mixture of timber frame, lime-hemp and cob-built houses, all heated by the biomass and solar thermal panel powered district heating system. There are extensive areas of woodland, allotments and polytunnels and also Community Supported Agriculture on site. It is situated just off the main street in the small town of Cloughjordan and has a railway station within 3/4 of a mile. For more visit the village website.
